Being an entrepreneur is not an easy matter. In addition to the risks that can be experienced, becoming an entrepreneur must be required to be observant in seeing business potential. This was done by one of the Indonesian entrepreneur Caroline Gondokusumo. A successful entrepreneur who started her career from the bottom to become Indonesia’s representative in the EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women (EY EWW) program 2019. This program is a platform for business leaders who succeed in breaking down the challenges of running their business by getting support from EY on business strategy, training, and access to the network of EY Entrepreneurs throughout the world.
Caroline was chosen as one of 21 entrepreneurs selected from 7 countries in the Asia Pacific who will gather in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on April 8-9 2019 to participate in the program. Caroline’s election as a representative of Indonesia is not a coincidence, she is the founder and CEO of PT Dutakom Wibawa Putra Group, a wireless internet service provider (WISP) in Indonesia. Operating through the D ~ NET trademark, the company led by Caroline is currently innovating to help improve Indonesia’s Education system through information technology, and empower companies and communities with internet-related solutions.
This woman who lives in Surabaya also has other business lines in the distribution of wireless data equipment in Indonesia under the trade name Spectrumindo. Although she does not have a background in the world of technology, Caroline is always looking for opportunities to independently implement her internet service ideas. “With my passion for technology and the desire to continue learning, I succeeded in building the largest private wireless network in East Java,” he said in a written statement from EY Indonesia, Tuesday (03/05/2019).
In 2004, Microsoft appointed Caroline as a marketing development partner for East Java. In 2016, she collaborated with Facebook to implement the internet.org project. Currently, internet.org has developed into ExpressWi-Fi by Facebook. Dutakom Group Wibawa Putra also won the Achievers Award from ExpressWi-Fi by Facebook in 2017. She also served as President Entrepreneurs’ Organization Indonesia East chapter and as chairman for the G20 Young Entrepreneurs ’Alliance, Indonesia.
Most recently, Caroline won the EY Indonesia Entrepreneurial Winning Women Class of Winner in 2018. Currently, Caroline is working on her dream project to contribute to Making Indonesia 4.0 program that seeks to connect remote villages in the country via the internet. Under her leadership, D ~ Net also participated in improving the Indonesian education system. “This mission can be achieved by bringing internet connections to schools, providing training to teachers on how to use the internet to improve their abilities. Thus, the young generation in these villages can bring major changes to the improvement of the quality of Indonesia’s human resources. We are targeting to reach at least 1,000 schools throughout Indonesia by the end of 2023, “Caroline said.
The EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women (EY EWW) 2019 program will be participated by 21 female entrepreneurs who have businesses in the consumer products, technology, e-Commerce, design, fashion, investments, engineering, media and consulting sectors chosen to take part in this global scale program.
Their combined revenue reached 1.8 billion AA dollars in 2018 and employs a total of 12,000 workers in the Asia Pacific. For two days the participants will take part in activities focused on deepening business and cultural skills and have the opportunity to explore the nuances and business processes in Vietnam. After the conference was completed, they will also take part in various workshop sessions, e-conference, as well as business growth sessions in each participating country as a continuation of this program.
