Egy Maulana Vikri returned to the spotlight after the only Indonesian footballer entered the highest caste of the Polish league and is now recognized as a player who has experienced extraordinary development. For his achievement, Egy Maulana Vikri won a Hopes of the Year award with two other young players namely Tomasz Makowski and Kacper Urbanski. The award was obtained Egy in the Gdansk Sports Gala event which is an annual award for athletes in the city of Gdansk precisely at the Gdansk Energa Stadium on Wednesday (12/18/2019) evening local time.
Lechia coach Piotr Stokowiec has entered Egy’s name seven times in the list of players in the Ekstraklasa competition this season. In fact, Egy was once believed to be down as a major player.
The historic moment was felt by Egy when Lechia faced a heavy opponent Wisla Krakow in the second week of Ekstraklasa. He played for 45 minutes in a match that ended goallessly. The 19-year-old is still likely to increase the number of appearances in Lechia. This is because Egy is under contract in Lechia until 30 June 2021.
Egy himself has just appeared at the 2019 SEA Games with the Indonesian U-23 national team. In this event, Egy had to settle for only winning a silver medal for losing 3-1 to Vietnam in the top party. Despite failing to win, Egy’s performance is quite good. The player who had studied at Ragunan Education and Training has scored four goals in seven matches.
Meanwhile in the Gdansk Sport Gala event, Stokowiec and senior player, Flavio Paixao also won awards. Stokowiec was the best coach and Paixao was named the best athlete of the year.
Lechia was also chosen as the best men’s team. Egy et al currently rank seventh while Ekstraklasa.
Also present at the event, the Mayor of Gdansk, Aleksandra Dutkiewicz, appointed 3 ambassadors for the 2019-2020 Europa League final, namely Boguslaw Kaczmarek, Sebastian Mili, and Slawomi Peszko. Gdansk City will indeed host the Europa League final in 2019-2020. Therefore, they must prepare optimally.
