Komodo National Park at Labuan Bajo Archipelago

Probably for most people, dragons are mythological animals found only in fictional stories and imaginative films, but do you think this animal of mythology can be found in one of the Indonesian archipelagoes, precisely in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara. Labuan Bajo is a tourist destination that presents the uniqueness of nature tourism in which there are only one endangered species in the world which is the original habitat, namely Komodo Dragons.

Because of its uniqueness and lots of prehistorical values, the city of Labuan Bajo is included in UNESCO World Heritage where there are more than 2,000 Komodo dragons. To get there, you can rent a boat from the pier at a rate of about Rp 2,000,000 to Rp 3,000,000 for one boat, depending on your destination, with a boat capacity of about 8-12 people. Facilities available include boat rentals, lunch, buoys, and snorkeling equipment.

Several choices of destinations are you can visit Loh Buaya on Rinca Island, Loh Liang on Komodo Island and swim or snorkel at Pink Beach for a day trip (about 12 hours). Or if you like adventure, can take a choice of 3-day tour and stay in the boat.

Visiting Loh Buaya or Loh Liang cannot be arbitrary, because Komodo roams freely on the island. You must be accompanied by a ranger who will take you trekking. Trekking options there are various, you can choose short tracking, medium or long tracking with travel time between 1 hour to 3 hours.

For those of you who are not accustomed to trekking, you need not worry. For the choice of short-tracking is also quite interesting, where you will along the forest in approximately 45 minutes-1 hour and you will meet with dragons, wild boar, buffalo, deer, snakes and even older siblings. A very interesting sensation as well as tense, especially when you meet the Komodo dragon.

After a 1 hour trekking on Rinca Island, you will be amazed at the scenic beauty of the island from the top of the hill. The scenery between arid mountains, forests, and blue sea water and boats that will be anchored into one. The 4 hour trip to this island paid off already. Very beautiful!
