Rizky "the wonder boy" Faidan the champion of PES Southeast Asia (SEA) 2019

E-sport has now developed into a competition that provides opportunities for talented gamers around the world to show each other their abilities in playing games. Like chess and bridge, E-sports competition emphasizes players to rely on their thinking skills in solving problems and obstacles in games. One of them is in the PES game or Pro Evolution Soccer which requires players to design strategies as well as in soccer.

Recently gamers from Indonesia have successfully become the best in the PES competition held in Bangkok, Thailand. He is Rizky “The Wonder Boy” Faidan, who won 1st place PES Southeast Asia (SEA) Finals 2019. In the final match that took place at the Thailand E-Sports Arena, Rizky Faidan was able to beat Vietnam’s representative Jesus. In the decisive match, Rizky Faidan dramatically won on penalties.

This victory made Rizky entitled to receive 50 thousand baht or around Rp.22 million. Rizky Faidan’s name is familiar in the E-sport world, especially PES in Southeast Asia. He has scored several impressive achievements, such as the PES 2017 Champion Mini Tournament, the 2018 PES Champion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to the winner of Indonesia’s national qualification for the 2018 Asian Games.

The name of Rizky Faidan has also been controversy regarding Indonesia’s representative in the 2018 Asian Games stage. He was banned from playing because it did not meet the minimum age requirements for professional esports athletes who were allowed to play.

Rizky Faidan’s actions at PES Finals Southeast Asia were relatively smooth. In the first round, he threw down the Malaysian representative, Lapit, with a score of 7-2. After that, he got rid of the Myanmar champ, Myat Kaung (3-2), and captured fellow countryman Elga Cahya (5-3) in the semifinals.

Rizky Faidan’s victory over Jesus also became a part of revenge. Understandably, in the semifinal round, Jesus overthrew Indonesia’s representative, Rommy, with a score of 3-2.

In this special event, 32 participants took part in spending 112 matches. Besides Rizky Faidan, the representation of the Indonesian team included Rommy Hadi Wijaya, Elga Cahya Putra, and Ardi Agung Nugroho.
