The Indonesian running world made a brilliant history at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) 100 meters World Junior Championships event taking place in Tampere, Finland. Indonesian Runner, Lalu Muhammad Zohri won the gold medal in the final round which time on Wednesday (11/7) local time. He became the first runner who crossed the finish with a time of 10.18 seconds. Zohri outperformed two American runners Anthony Schwartz and Eric Harrison in second and third positions. In fact, Zohri is not a top seed in the Junior World Championship despite his status as an Asian champion. Zohri’s best time record before the championship starts is 10.25 seconds.
Racing under the windy Tampere weather, the 18-year-old Zohri won a gold medal in a time of 10.18 seconds. He outperformed favorite champions such as the American duo, Anthony Schwartz (10.22) and Eric Harrison (10.22) and South African sprinter Thembo Monareng (10.23). British Athlete Dominic Ashwell clocked 10.25 seconds.

US athletes, Anthony Schwartz and Eric Harrison pleaded not too disappointed with this result. “The last few yards are very tight,” said Harrison who won a bronze medal. “But I am happy to record my best time,” he said again.

In the future, Zohri will prepare in the arena of the Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang. He said that there was preparation but did not say how the preparation form.
