The Indonesian government again won an international award at an international level public relations award event organized by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA). The Indonesian government, in this case the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) won the Golden World Awards which were handed over directly by the President of IPRA, Svetlana Stavreva and The Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue of Armenia, Mikayel Pashayan in Yerevan, Armenia on Friday (27/09) ).
After being awarded 2018 and one Gold award, in 2019, the Ministry of Finance won two Gold awards in two categories, namely PR on Shoestring and Public Sector. For information, PR on Shoestring is a public relations campaign category with a limited budget that was successfully achieved by the retail public relations program SBR003 and SBR004 series conducted by the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR).
The Head of the Communication and Information Services Bureau, Ministry of Finance, Nufransa Wira Sakti said that the objectives of the campaign were aimed at deepening the financial markets and expanding the base of domestic investors. Therefore, DGT implemented two retail SBN sales innovations, namely by using an online system and reducing the minimum investment nominal to Rp1 million.
“The two innovations are considered successful in increasing the contribution of domestic investors, particularly from the millennial generation and Eastern Indonesia,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Public Sector category was won by the public relations program of the e-Filing campaign, namely Embracing Technology to Elevate Tax Revenue conducted by the Directorate General of Tax (DGT). The ease of reporting Annual Tax Returns (SPT) using the online system has succeeded in changing the behavior of taxpayers (WP) to comply with SPT reporting via e-Filing.
Based on the data, WP compliance increased from 23.17% in 2015 to 91.4% in 2019. This year’s award also became an achievement improvement last year, where DGT won the Golden World Awards for the Public Sector category through the Public Tax Amnesty program.
Since 2012, DGT has begun introducing online tax reporting as an effort by authorities to improve services. Every year, the DGT campaigns e-Filing intensively, especially during the reporting season of the Annual Notification Letter (SPT).
