Smart Indonesia Card for Quality of Education

Seeing so many school-aged children who have not been able to receive a proper education, the Indonesia government through the Directorate of High School Development of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) held a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) Achievement of Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP) Performance SMA 2017. In this Rakor organizer takes the theme “Maju Bersama Hebat Semua”. All Rakor participants were attended by various education activists, especially the head of high school, PIP data officer, and head of high school section in the education office of 34 provinces. The meeting was also attended by the head of District School Working Groups (MKKS) in each province.

This activity was started by welcoming from Director of SMA Purwadi Sutanto in Jakarta, on Tuesday (31/10/2017). Pintar Indonesia Program, abbreviated as PIP, is a manifestation of an educational program which is one of the promises of Jokowi’s campaign to eradicate national education problems. Now through Kemendikbud, PIP focuses on returning dropout students due to the inability to return to school. Purwadi explained, one of the main problems why children can drop out of school is an economic factor. Not because they do not want, but not able to set aside more funds to support education.

Through this PIP the government disburses funds for school-aged children, 6 to 21 years from poor families in order to complete school to the senior high school level, so as to prevent and reduce the number of students who drop out of school. Through this coordination meeting, Purwadi hopes that there are solutions that make it easier for children to disburse PIP funds.

“Hence, we make a new breakthrough, which is to increase the target beneficiaries. This PIP program can keep school-aged children from dropping out. Should be monitored properly, the children of Indonesian Card Holder Smart (KIP) once graduated from elementary school, must also get KIP in junior high school level. And, once graduated junior high school must get KIP at the high school level. It must be ensured that these children do not drop out of school, “Purwadi said.

He added that the meeting also became an important opportunity in utilizing the allocated funds can be on target. In addition to various evaluations, it is expected that this coordination can be more synergic between the central, regional and school can be better, in line with the spirit of “Maju Bersama Hebat Semua”. All parties together ensure that the distribution of PIP funds can be right on target, appropriate and appropriate allotment point so that the children of Indonesia can be great all.

The implementation of the Coordination Meeting of PIP Performance Performance 2017 ends with group discussions that are divided into 8 groups as the last agenda. Participants are required to fill out the instruments and frequently asked questions online before beginning the discussion.

Participants from the East Java region filled the first group discussion consisting of the Provincial Senior High Schools, the provincial PIP Officer, UPTD / MKKS SMA, the PSMA Facilitator Team, and the BNI Facilitator Team of the Tuban Branch Office. The topics covered in this group are the identification of PIP performance achievements in the region and the strategy of accelerating the disbursement of SMA PIP 2017.

Furthermore, in Group 2 followed by DKI, West Java, Central Java, and South Sumatra focuses on two mechanisms of disbursement of funds:

Collective disbursement of funds in which the school coordinates with the bank and Disbursement of funds in private. The success of KIP / PIP is the benchmark is when the fund is up to the right students and can be disbursed and utilized in accordance with the allocation, that is for these students can continue the school up to SMA level, Another goal is to prevent students drop out and invite students to drop out to go back to school.

The other groups discuss issues that vary according to the conditions in their respective regions. The conclusion of the discussion of the eight groups will be a reference to further improve the performance and achievement of the next PIP. Hopefully, the spirit of togetherness in this one noble goal can achieve a surefire solution to educate the nation’s future generations.

Hopefully in the future through the evaluation conducted by the government to reduce the problem of education, it can be realized so that in every region to all corners of the nation from all backgrounds deserve to get a decent education, because only education can make a country able to compete with other countries in the middle increasingly tight global competition.
